The Malta Pyrotechnics Association has appealed to the authorities to apply the law in a uniform manner and not to create new bureaucratic obstacles ahead of the holding of village feasts.

In a statement, Michael Falzon, legal adviser to the association, said the association was calling on the members to observe the law and regulations, including the time when fireworks may be let off, and the size of the petards.

He also called for cooperation from the police and local councils.

He complained that there had already been some members of the association who had faced undue bureaucracy and practices which were not uniform between the various localities.
