It is unfair on the country to prolong the uncertainty the current political situation is causing, Nationalist MP Jeffrey Pullicino Orlando said this morning.

In a post on his facebook wall, he wrote:

"I sincerely hope that the political situation is resolved, either way, in the coming days.

"As representatives of the people we should always remember that the national interest supersedes any other consideration."

The Nationalist MP also had a message for his personal critics.

"I would like to remind those who criticise me simply because I appeal for a clearly charted way forward that it is definitely not in my personal interest if elections are held early.

"I have already declared I will not be contesting the next elections and I will be very disappointed if I am not allowed to continue putting the Malta Council for Science and Technology on a sound footing-with the invaluable assistance I am getting from my board and staff."

The political situation in Malta is once again in turmoil as the opposition is attempting to force a parliamentary debate on two resignation motions, which Nationalist MP Franco Debono is expected to support.
