Students at St Margaret College Girls Secondary School recently celebrated Personal and Social Development (PSD) Day.

The event was organised to increase awareness on issues addressed during PSD sessions and to emphasise the importance of PSD at school.

Students from St MargaretBoys Secondary School werealso invited to the activity inorder to promote a collaborative experience.

Representatives from Ċentru Tbexbix, the Health Promotion Department, Sedqa and the Blood Donation Unit participated in the event and speeches were given by children’s commissioner Helen D’Amato, college principal Stephen Cachia and school head Joe Ellul.

A video-clip prepared by two PSD teachers illustrated the local PSD model and syllabus and presentations on topics discussed in the classes were given.

Students were then divided into groups and given workshops on healthy living, helping others and internet safety.

Students said they appreciated having been given the opportunity to discuss these topics in a safe space.
