The owner company of the GreenDot trademark, which is connected with waste recycling, has filed a judicial protest against GreenMt Ltd, a non-profit waste management organisation set up by the Chamber for Small and Medium Enterprises - GRTU, for using a similar trademark.

A second, similar protest was filed by GreenPak Ltd that holds the rights to make use of the GreenDot trademark in Malta.

In the two separate protests, GreenPak and the owner company Der Grune Punkt Duales Systems claimed that the GreenMt trademark was too similar to the GreenDot trademark and the two could easily be confused especially since they both dealt in waste management.

They claimed that over the years GreenDot had invested heavily in building its reputation in the industry and called on GreenMt to stop using that trademark illegally.

They also called on GreenMt to withdraw from circulation any material bearing the trademark and pay for damages caused.
