Students who chose to follow the nursing programme at University have been turned away because there was no place for them, the Labour Party claimed yesterday.
This happened in spite of guarantees that any suitably qualified candidates would be accepted. Not only was their application rejected but these students were made to pay to change their course preference.
Labour spokesman for health Michael Farrugia said more than 200 students have so far been turned away, adding this was another lost opportunity to ease the nursing shortage.
