The General Workers' Union is objecting to the proposed Air Malta voluntary retirement schemes for its members and started discussing the matter with management this afternoon.

Another meeting is being held tomorrow.

The GWU said in a statement it had always been told that the voluntary retirement schemes would be the same for all workers but it was now clear that what its members would be offered was inferior to what workers represented by other unions would be getting.

The union said it was not against the members of other unions getting better treatment as long as this was also given to its members.
