Could whoever is responsible for selecting the five finalists of the KMS Sports Awards shed some light on the criteria needed for an athlete to make it to the final five?

Turning professional at 18 and being the first in Maltese basketball history to do so, even to the extent of bringing four gold medals back home (obviously together with her team) and being chosen three times as one of the best five players in these competitions, are not enough criteria to be nominated for the best athlete award.

My daughter Josephine (Joey) was not only a success locally but also won a league in Italy, finishing top scorer of the game, with the Italian newspapers showering praise on her. What about the 2006 Commonwealth Games held in Melbourne where she finished second-best player with FIBA singing her praises? How could such outstanding performances and successful results not lead to her at least being nominated in the final five?

My daughter is a credit to Maltese sports. She is a professional in every aspect of the word.
