A teenager was yesterday was put on probation for three years after he admitted breaking into the vacant Gżira house of his elderly neighbour.

John Junior Pace, 19, pleaded guilty to stealing €2,000 worth of items, including cutlery and crockery on April 9.

Magistrate Doreen Clarke told Mr Pace to be careful who he hung around with.

This was the second time he had been charged in court and if he did not cooperate with the probation officer the next stop would be jail.

“You’re still young and still can turn your life around,” she said.

Police Inspector Jason Sultana prosecuted.

Lawyer Alessandro Lia was defence counsel.

Another youth is expected to be charged over the theft.
