A 21-year-old who attacked a 30-year-old man at a DVD shop last Wednesday was this morning put on probation for two years.

The victim ended with a couple of sutures to his face and the accused with a badly bruised right eye.

Defence lawyer Veronique Dalli said that James Agius of Floriana was playing a car racing game on a playstation with two 15-year-olds inside a DVD shop.

In the game, the winner gets the other player’s car. Mr Agius had just lost to one of the younger kids, who invited him to play again so that he could win another car.

Mr Agius said he would not but let his anger take over when 30-year-old Shilo Curmi, who was also in the shop, asked him if he was afraid of the 15-year-old.

The prosecution confirmed Dr Dalli’s version of events. The accused admitted to the attack.
