A public library which has been revamped by a small group of inmates from the Corradino Correctional Facilities was this morning passed on from the Education Ministry to the Paola council.

The inmates painted the library, named after poet and trade unionist Karmenu Ellul Galea, constructed a ramp to make it more accessible and carried out other works which were necessary.

Home Affairs Minister Carmelo Mifsud Bonnici said that society was changing and the government was putting foward the process of educating and rehabilitating people who brushed with the law.

There were inmates who wanted to help and reintegrate in society and they should be given the opportunity, he said.
