A number of inmates at Corradino Correctional Facility have started doing community work this week, the Home Affairs Ministry said this morning.

The inmates are doing work with local councils as well as NGOs, thanks to a ministerial directive for Prison Leave, approved by Home Affairs Minister Carmelo Abela.

A number of regulations were introduced for those offering community work.

This process is helping to provide prisoners with an opportunity for rehabilitation and to pave the way towards their reintegration once released from prison, the ministry said.
