Mario Camilleri, 48, known as l-imniehru, who is a prison inmate, was arraigned in court today and accused of having last Wednesday afternoon phoned and threatened journalist John Pisani and his family.

He was also accused of causing distress to Mr Pisani and his family, and relapsing.

Defence counsel Joe Brincat said that his client was pleading not guilty. He said his client had been angry that his son was mentioned in the newspapers and a direct reference was made to his father. It was incorrect, Dr Brincat said, for the father to be mentioned in connection with the actions of his son.

Dr Brincat said that although his client was in prison, he was filing a request for bail so that it would not affect his rights once he was released.

However Magistrate Audrey Demicoli turned down the request for bail.
