A 45-year-old inmate was yesterday charged with a string of thefts, ranging from an air-conditioner to a tabernacle, 10 years ago.

Joseph Cini, also known as Il-Pele, pleaded not guilty to stealing an air-conditioner, ceramics, paintings, household items, a chiller and the tabernacle from the Għolja tas-Salib chapel in Siġġiewi between October 31, 1999 and January 23 of the following year.

He also pleaded not guilty to handling stolen property and relapsing. Police Inspector Jeffrey Cilia prosecuted.

Lawyer Roberto Montalto appeared for Mr Cini.
