Prompt action by warders prevented a fire from spreading at Corradino prisons this morning.

The Ministry of Home Affairs said the warders noticed smoke coming from beneath a cell door in Division II and acted quickly to extinguish the blaze.

The fire started from a mattress in the middle of the cell.

No one was injured.
