Velprint printing press has been awarded the Forest Stewardship Council Chain of Custody Certification by BM Trade Certification Ltd of the UK.

Over the last years, Velprint has sought to encourage the use of paper from well managed forests certified in accordance with the rules of the Forest Stewardship Council. The FSC scheme focuses on the environmental, social and economic management of the world's forests to help ensure their existence for future generations. FSC is an international, non-profit organisation founded in 1993.

Environmentally appropriate forest management ensures that the harvest of timber and non-timber products maintains the forests' biodiversity, productivity and ecologicial processes.

Demand for FSC Certified paper is on the increase, as customers are becoming more conscious of the possible negative impact due to the indiscriminate use of the world's forests. An increasing number of companies and corporations, both internationally and locally, have laid down internal policies for purchasing all printed material that must use FSC Certified paper. This type of paper is not different in any way from non-certified paper and is only recognisable by the use of the FSC registered trademark and other approved FSC Logos.

Printed material carrying the FSC trademark requires that the chain of custody of the paper used is maintained throughout the supply chain from the forest to the end user.

This means that each entity in the supply chain shall be certified to the FSC Standard. Clients requesting Velprint Ltd. to print their jobs on FSC Certified Paper will have the option to include the FSC Logo in their artworks. The Logo will also carry Velprint's FSC Certification Number to verify compliance to the FSC standard.
