Prime Minister Lawrence Gonzi is this morning visiting Progress Press, which is to announce major investment in new premises and equipment.

Dr Gonzi was greeted by Adrian Hillman, managing director of Progress Press,Vince Buhagiar, managing director of Allied Group and Austin Bencini, director. He will be touring the press - across the road from the Auberge de Castille - and meeting the directors, who will brief him on the project.

Progress Press is one of the leading and longest established printing presses in Malta, having been set up in 1922 by Gerald Strickland, who later also served as Prime Minister.

It today prints an ever expanding range of products - from newspapers and magazines to books, manuals, catalogues and brochures for the local and export markets. It is equipped to cater for short, medium and long runs.

Progress Press forms part of the Allied Group, which also owns The Times, The Sunday Times and timesofmalta.com.
