The Prime Minister and Mrs Muscat visited Dar tal-Providenza this morning to mark the 50th anniversary of the founding of the home for people with disabilities.

They were shown around by the director of the home, Fr Martin Micallef, who introduced then to the residents and staff and showed them around the various facilities. He also spoke on the home's three outlying homes for residents who enjoy a measure of independent living.

Also present was Parliamentary Secretary Justyne Caruana.

Dr Muscat described the Home as a 'great' institution and said the government was working with it for a more community-based disability policy.

The Home, founded by Mgr Mikiel Azzopardi, celebrated its 50th anniversary yesterday when a group of residents and staff were greeted by Pope Francis at the Vatican.
