Prime Minister Lawrence Gonzi will be going to Libya this evening at the invitation of Palm City.

This will be Dr Gonzi’s second visit to Libya in less than two months. He will be accompanied by his wife Kate.

Dr Gonzi was in Libya last June when an agreement had been reached between the Swiss and Libyan governments, bringing to an end a long standing diplomatic row.

Malta had been one of the countries instrumental in bringing the agreement to fruition.

Dr Gonzi’s visit to Libya comes less than a week after a visit by Opposition leader Joseph Muscat, during which Dr Muscat had a meeting with Libyan leader Muammar Ghaddafi.

Before his return to Malta tomorrow, Dr Gonzi will attend Mass with the Maltese community in Tripoli at St Francis Church in Dahra, Tripoli.
