Prime Minister Lawrence Gonzi visited AFM headquarters and toured various sections of the army today to congratulate the Force on its 40th anniversary.

Dr Gonzi was shown around by the Commander, Brigadier Martin Xuereb, and Deputy Commander Col David Attard.

Among the officers and men who greeted Dr Gonzi were the members of a contingent which recently took part in anti-piracy operations off Somalia in conjunction with the Dutch Navy and other officers and men who served on peacekeeping operations in Georgia.

Dr Gonzi congratulated the AFM for its service to the country and for adapting itself to the changing security requirements which the country faced.
