Prime Minister Joseph Muscat continued to defend his chief of staff Keith Schembri saying he had already given his explanation regarding the creation of a Panama company while in office.

Speaking this morning, the Prime Minister acknowledged that Mr Schembri’s choice might not have been the best one but insisted that his explanation had been given.

He also discarded Opposition leader Simon Busuttil’s claim that "gods" at Castille were being treated differently.

Parliament yesterday defeated a motion by independent MP Marlene Farrugia for the appointment of a parliamentary committee to investigate Mr Schembri in view of his involvement in the Panama Papers.
