Prime Minister Lawrence Gonzi is in Finland for an extraordinary meeting of heads of state and government of the European Peoples’ Parties.

The meeting was called to discuss the current crisis in Libya, in view of the extraordinary meeting of the European Council being held in Brussels next week.

European Commission President José Manuel Barroso, European Council President Herman van Rompuy, European Parliament President Jerzy Buzek and Viktor Orban, the Prime Minister of Hungary, which currently holds the EU presidency, are attending the meeting.

The Prime Minister is expected back in Malta late tonight.
