Bank of Valletta shares opened at Lm2.80 on Monday, during which session 10 deals were struck. The relevant share price went up to Lm2.85, before going down again to close at Lm2.81, up by five cents. Turnover amounted to 6,050 shares. The only other trading session of the week, held yesterday, saw 3,500 Bank of Valletta shares change hands. Trading opened at Lm2.851, climbed to Lm2.865 and went down to close at Lm2.85. This was up by four cents on the previous close. Following the close of business yesterday, bids for 1,975 shares at Lm2.85 were outstanding against offers of 2,000 shares at Lm2.89.

Monday's trading session saw 21 deals for 29,715 shares being struck in Maltacom plc. Trading opened at Lm0.98 and ranged between Lm0.97 and Lm0.99, before closing at Lm0.985. Yesterday saw the equity open trading at Lm0.989 and close at Lm0.985, unchanged from the previous session. During the session, 15,335 shares changed over five deals. Best bids for 500 shares at Lm0.985 and best offers of 1,000 shares at Lm0.989 were left unsatisfied after yesterday's session.

Four deals were struck in Malta International Airport plc this week - two on Monday and two yesterday. All deals passed at the price of Lm0.73, leaving it unchanged over the week, while turnover amounted to 3,710 shares. Best bids for 8,200 shares at Lm0.60 were outstanding at the end of yesterday's trading session, while best offers of 1,050 shares at Lm0.73 remained unsatisfied.

Two deals were struck in HSBC Bank Malta shares on Monday, at Lm3.75 and Lm3.85. This latter was the closing price, up by 10c on the previous reading. Turnover amounted to 900 shares. Yesterday saw four deals being struck between Lm3.82 and Lm3.83, with 1,100 shares changing hands over the deals. Trading closed at Lm3.83, down by two cents on the previous close. At the close of business yesterday, 1,000 shares at Lm3.75 and 1,000 shares at Lm3.83 were left as best outstanding bids and offers respectively.

In a company announcement issued by HSBC Bank Malta yesterday, it was stated that David Baker has resigned from the board of directors of the bank as from December 31, 2002.

Other equities which traded during the week were 750 Plaza Centres shares at Lm0.70 and 4,600 GloBAl Financial Services Group shares between Lm0.199 and Lm 0.20.

Trading in corporate bonds was made up of a total value of Lm 3,867.81, spread as follows:

¤ Two deals struck in the 6.15 per cent Bank of Valletta 2010, in which a nominal value of Lm1,500 changed hands at Lm103.24 and Lm103.25.

¤ Two deals struck in the 6.5 per cent Corinthia Finance 2010 (EUR), in which a nominal value of ?24,800 changed hands at ?100 and ?100.50.

¤ One deal struck in the 6.75 per cent Corinthia Finance 2012, in which a nominal value of Lm1,000 changed hands at Lm102.

¤ One deal struck in the 6.5 per cent CareMalta Finance 2008/11, in which a nominal value of Lm 5,000 changed hands at Lm103.

¤ One deal struck in the 6.7 per cent Mizzi Organisation Finance 2009/12, in which a nominal value of Lm500 changed hands Lm103.

¤ One deal struck in the 6.7 per cent Tumas Investments 2010/12, in which a nominal value of Lm4,000 changed hands at Lm102.45.

¤ One deal struck in the 6.7 per cent Tumas Investments Secured Notes 2006, in which a nominal value of Lm4,800 changed hands at Lm103.20.

¤ Two deals struck in the seven per cent Big Bon Finance 2010/12, in which a nominal value of 6,000 changed hands at Lm103 and Lm103.50.

Total Malta Government Stock turnover amounted to a nominal value of Lm71,500 being struck in 27 deals over 16 different stocks.

The Malta Stock Exchange Share Index increased by 31.176 points over the week, equal to 1.69 per cent, and now stands at 1,874.764.
