I refer to the letter by David Thake entitled SMS Euro Prices (December 20). I would like to clarify that while the Lm0.02 SMS rate converts to €0.05, there are different tariffs with Vodafone's portfolio and for example the Lm0.01c SMS will now be rated at €0.02, a decrease of seven per cent when compared with the previous Lm price point.

Vodafone's euro prices have been reviewed by the NECC, which confirm that the approach taken by the company was done in the best interest of the customer and within the FAIR initiative.

Price increases or decreases are a natural result of the conversion to a new monetary denomination and Vodafone has done its best to maintain the conversion approach as neutral as possible.

As of the new year Vodafone customers will still be able to buy bundled SMS at the same price points as the old currency, that is 300 SMS at Lm3 (€6.99) or 500 SMS at Lm5 (€11.54).
