The price of diesel will continue to increase this month and go up by a further 2c per litre to reflect the cost of imported fuel, Enemalta said.

As from today, a litre of diesel will cost 97c, instead of 95c. The price had been raised by 1c last month.

The prices of leaded and unleaded petrol will remain unchanged, at €1.20 and €1.13 respectively, following 10c increases last month in both cases.

Despite the increase in the cost of imported fuel, the price remained stable due to favourable exchange rates, Enemalta explained.

It announced a rise in the price of kerosene and gasoil used for heating. Kerosene rose by 10c to 97c while gasoil prices rose by 4c to 65c.

Prices for thin fuel oil (TFO), mainly used by the industry, also increased by about 40c. TFO 200 increased by 41c to €452 a litre, TFO 450 went up by 43c to €443 and TFO 900 will cost €427 following a 46c increase.

"Since January this year, Brent crude oil prices have surged by almost 53 per cent from a level of $46.91 (€32.69) a barrel to $71.82 (€50) a barrel," Enemalta said.
