Diesel and kerosene prices will drop by 2c and 4c per litre respectively as of today, Enemed said.

The price of unleaded petrol and gasoil for heating remain unchanged.

Fuel prices have been hitting the headlines for the past months as Malta had among the highest fuel prices within the EU. Hedging arrangements were blamed for keeping domestic fuel prices above the norm.

Energy Minister Konrad Mizzi said last month that Enemed, which took over Enemalta’s petroleum division in 2014, had closed a number of transactions that would result in a reduction of both petrol and diesel prices at the pump over a number of months.

The Opposition has been campaigning for cheaper fuel prices, saying the high costs were affecting the cash flow of households and businesses in Malta and Gozo.
