The overseas press

Kathimerini quotes Greek Deputy Minister of Interior Giorgos Katrougalos saying a detailed statement from Greece’s economic staff will be released later today. He told journalists in the early hours of this morning after a government meeting that the Greek government perceives the referendum as a “continuation of talks” on Greek bailout with the use of alternative means.  

Bloomberg reports European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker said on Twitter that the European Commission offered Greek voters a 10-point plan for bailout requirements yesterday, urging Greece to stay in the euro area. The commission said the list of measures was being published “in the interest of transparency and for the information of the Greek people. Juncker will hold a news conference in Brussels at noon today.

According to Le Soir, European Economic Affairs Commissioner Pierre Moscovici said in a Twitter message: “To those who wonder what’s next: one, Greece should stay in euro; two, the door is still open for negotiations on latest EU commission proposals.”

China is hosting the signing ceremony of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB), a new international financial institution set to rival the World Bank and Asian Development Bank, BBC reports. Delegates from 57 countries will sign articles that determine each member’s share and the bank’s initial capital. The UK, Germany, Australia and South Korea are among the founding members. Japan and the US are the most prominent countries not to join.

al bawaba says officials from Libya’s rival parliaments have given favourable comments after they sat at the same table for the first time at the latest round of United Nations-backed peace talks in Morocco – a move negotiators saw as an important step to forming a unity government.  

As Sky News announces the number of British people killed in the Tunisia terror attack is expected to double to at least 30, British Prime Minister David Cameron has insisted that Britain “must be more intolerant of intolerance” to combat the “poisonous ideology” behind the beach massacre. Writing in The Daily Telegraph, he said he was confident the “great British spirit” would triumph in the face of adversity”.  

Americans should beware of the threat of a terrorist attack in the lead-up to next weekend’s Fourth of July celebrations. Michael McCaul, chairman of the House of Representatives’ Homeland Security Committee, told Fox News there had been increased chatter on social media that suggests terrorists could target the Independence Day celebrations.

The Verge writes flowers are appearing across buildings, businesses, and balconies in the Norwegian capital as part of a scheme designed to make life easier for the beleaguered honey bee. Oslo is in the process of developing a “bee highway” for the pollinating insects, offering them a safe route through the city complete with food sources, resting spots, and places to live.

Football: Ultima Ora says Paraguay’s celebrations after advancing to the semi-finals of the Copa América by beating Brazil 4-3 in a penalty shootout, were dampened after the death of Manuel Irrazabal, 44, the uncle of Derlis González who converted the winning spot kick. The heart-broken player wrote on Twitter he could not believe the great joy he gave him could lead to this tragedy.

La Republica reports Fiorentina’s super striker Mohamed Salah has contributed €60,000 Florence’s Muslim community to repair the mosques in the Italian western province. Salah, an Egyptian player who moved to Fiorentina from Chelsea, has become a huge star in the Italian league after scoring nine goals and making two others in 12 matches so far. Italy has a Muslim population of some 1.7 million.
