The Institute of Maltese Journalists yesterday launched the 21st edition of the journalism awards, which comprises 14 categories covering print, broadcast and online.

Journalists have until February 5 to submit their work for the Malta Journalism Awards and institute chairman Malcolm Naudi encouraged all journalists to take part.

Submissions can be made by journalists, editors and heads of news, organisations, corporations and bodies.

The first three journalists chosen in each category will receive a certificate while the winners receive €350, a certificate and a trophy.

The winner of the special Maltese category will not receive a cash prize but will be offered a specialised course in the Maltese language.

The finalists will be announced on March 21 and the presentation ceremony will be held on May 7.

All entries must have been published or broadcast in Malta during 2010.

Submissions can be handed in at the offices of the Institute of Maltese Journalists, 280/3, Republic Street, Valletta, until February 5 between 12 p.m. 3 p.m. Journalists who are not members will be charged an entry fee of €50.

Regulations and applications may downloaded from the institute’s website on www.maltapressclub.org.mt.
