President George Abela paid a visit to the RBSM Russian boarding school last week.

The President toured the school, chatted with students and staff and was warmly greeted by the school principal, Dr Snezhana Bodishtyanu, and the school's administration in the presence of Russian Ambassador Andrey Granovsky and the head of the Russian Centre for culture and science, Mr Medvedev.

Deputy director of the Moscow House of Compatriots Alexey Esipenko flew in from Moscow for the occasion and presented Dr Abela with a present on behalf of Moscow mayor Yuri Lushkov.

Earlier this year, RBSM students had organised a spring charity festival, the proceeds of which were donated to the Community Chest Fund. As a token of appreciation to the school, President Abela said artistic talents from the RBSM will feature in the next edition of L-Istrina.

Meanwhile, the next item on the RBSM cultural agenda is the launching of the fourth International Festival of Russian Choirs in Malta set to start on Sunday.
