President Eddie Fenech Adami paid his last official visit to various localities in Malta by visiting his hometown, Birkirkara, yesterday. The President and Mrs Fenech Adami started the visit with Mass at St Helena's Basilica followed by a meeting with residents on the church parvis. Accompanied by his son Michael, Birkirkara's mayor, the President met Frans Casha, a sculptor known for his proportional model of the basilica. He also met Margaret Farrugia, a painter who has been living in Birkirkara for more than 40 years and Victor Bugeja, who is known for his clay statuettes. The President visited the three local band clubs, the basilica's museum and homes for the elderly. He later planted a commemorative tree at Ta' Paris Garden.
