President George Abela this morning inaugurated the second and final phase of the Kitchen Garden in San Anton.

This second phase has seen an extension of the outdoor area and the cafeteria as well as the setting up of an outdoor gym thanks to the Kunsill Malti ghall-Isports.

President Abela said that the Kitchen Garden is an ideal place for children to experience direct contact with nature. “It’s also an eye opener: there is so much we can do with a bit of earth,” said Dr Abela.

The vegetables grown in the Kitchen Garden are primarily used for food items sold on the premises and the rest is given out to orphanages.

Dr Abela encouraged people to go to Kitchen Garden for a work out. “After that you can relax at the cafeteria,” he said.
