President Guido de Marco paid an official visit to MIDI plc to view the redevelopment project currently under way at Tigné Point. During the visit to Tigné Point he was briefed on the progress of the project by MIDI plc chairman Albert Mizzi, chief executive officer Benjamin Muscat and James Vassallo, marketing and selling manager, who gave a comprehensive presentation on the MIDI project and specifically the phases presently under way.

"The President's visit is an indication of the importance of the MIDI project to Malta, not only in economic terms but also socially and culturally," Mr Muscat said. "The project will see some of Malta's most important historical sites restored to their former glory to the benefit of Maltese and foreigners alike."

Also present for the meeting was Tourism Minister Francis Zammit Dimech, who concluded negotiations for the Government, with MIDI, on the lease of the area. The President was also shown a virtual demonstration of how the redeveloped site, which will include office, leisure and residential units as well as the restoration of several historically important sites, will look.

During his visit the President praised foresight of MIDI's chairman Albert Mizzi for developing such a project. "Throughout his life Mr Mizzi has worked to help Malta develop and prosper. This is truly an inspirational project, which goes well beyond simply developing a new residential and leisure area.

"MIDI, thanks to Albert Mizzi's vision, is creating something unique, economically, culturally and socially, from which the country will benefit," the President said.
