The 50th meeting of the season, comprising nine races, was held yesterday at the Marsa Racetrack.

The highlight of yesterday’s programme was the Premier Class race on the long distance of 2,640m.

French newcomer Mont Cenis Honey, driven by Noel Baldacchino, led all the way to win easily by a length from L’As de Seuilly (Julian Farrugia).

Key Value (Marco Tanti) and Niro (David Ellul) were third and fourth respectively.

Six horses lined up for the start of the only flat race of the day. Salsa des Pres (Charles Pace) surged ahead but, with a lap to go, Wildnis, ridden by Demis Zammit, overtook the early leader. The German mare finished first by half-a-length from favourite Mr Roxy Music and No Telling. Salsa des Pres had to settle for fourth place.

Two Gold Class races were also run yesterday. In the first race, French Never Better (David Ellul) claimed its first win in Malta from Count Of Life. Lys de l’Oasis and Ker Pellois took third and fourth places respectively.

Match des Bannes (Baldacchino) grabbed its sixth win of the season after increasing its pace along the final 700m to reach the post ahead of Giant Game, Loustic d’Apigne and Nill’s Daka.
