Former finance minister Tonio Fenech said today that the pre-Budget document issued yesterday was testimony of the good work done by the Nationalist administrations.
Speaking at PN headquarters in Pieta, Mr Fenech said the 10-year economic analysis in the document showed how competitiveness was maintained, jobs were created and the economy remained resilient even during the international recession.
Even though the Labour Party in Opposition never recognised these achievements, he added, it was now giving the PN a good certificate.
However, he criticised the document for lacking concrete plans to stimulate growth and create jobs.
Mr Fenech said that what was meant to be a green paper with concrete proposals, was simply a paper that looked at the past and forgot the future.
He said the only proposal aimed at job creation was related to child care facilities but even if this encouraged women to work, they still had to find jobs first. Gozo failed to get special mention, he added.
