Prime Minister Lawrence Gonzi said today that the European Commission's decision to close proceedings against Malta over the power station extension contract meant that truth had prevailed.

Dr Gonzi was speaking this morning at a political conference in Mgarr.

The EU's decision, he said, had burst Dr Muscat's bubble and revealed the Labour campaign to be just smoke, Dr Gonzi said.

The decision was a certificate that things had been done correctly and truth had prevailed, the prime minister said.

He pointed out that the contract had been investigated by the Auditor-General, who found no corruption. The Auditor-General was currently replying to questions on his findings before the Public Accounts Committee, Dr Gonzi observed.
