A chimney at the Marsa power station was emitting intermittent black smoke for some time this morning, Enemalta said.

The corporation explained such emissions were happening because a new boiler was being started and therefore the cold and combustion was not precise.

The corporation said the situation was expected to return to normal at around noon once combustion is stabilised.
