A power lifting champion has accused the acting Police Commissioner of failing to investigate a report he filed five months ago involving threats by a member of the police force.

Francis Spiteri, 65, who is a World and European Power Lifting champion, filed a judicial protest claiming that the Police Commissioner did not investigate a report he filed against Police Sergeant Kris Mintoff and Police Constable Ryan Agius who, he claimed, had put spokes in his wheels "out of jealousy" to keep him from taking part in other competitions.

Mr Spiteri also claimed that PC Agius threatened him by telephone five months ago.

He filed a report at the Cospicua police station and asked for criminal action to be taken against the policeman. He is claiming, however, that the Police Commissioner has "abusively and illegally" failed to take action.

Mr Spiteri and the two police officers are also members of the Malta Drug Free Power Association.

Lawyer Frank Cassar signed the judicial protest.
