Enemalta last year disconnected the power supply to 2,438 customers after they failed to settle their bills, Finance Minister Tonio Fenech said in parliament yesterday, coincidentally as Malta suffered a total blackout. A further 84 disconnections were made this January.

The minister also revealed in reply to another parliamentary question that Enemalta is owed €55.8 million on bills issued two years ago, €43.9 million on bills issued a year ago and €100 million on bills issued last March.

The outstanding amounts for the Water Services Corporation are €14 million; €9.5 million and €21.6 million.
