The results of any measures taken to reduce poverty will not be known until 2018, Solidarity Minister Michael Farrugia said in Parliament.

He was answering a question by Opposition MP Clyde Puli. Dr Farrugia pointed out that the National Strategy for the Reduction of Poverty had been launched last December. The latest statistics on poverty and social exclusion referred to 2013, based on data from 2012.

He added that the strategy included 94 actions for implementation by 2024. The 2015 Budget already included measures to help society’s most vulnerable and needy.
