In anticipation of any Cabinet reshuffle, which might be in the offing, I would like to appeal to the Prime Minister to appoint Robert Arrigo to take charge of the tourism portfolio.

Robert and I are cousins. Our great grandfather was Edgar Arrigo, OBE, first Speaker of the Maltese Parliament and a leading businessman in his heyday. But family ties do not motivate my letter. Robert has undoubtedly proved himself to be a most valid, hard-working, constituency MP with the ability to cultivate and win people over.

He is the sort of person who helps people unreservedly without any whiff of arrogance or conceitedness and his unassuming, genuine demeanour has endeared him to many people. He is also a seasoned businessman with years of experience in the tourism sector. I think his business and social skills should be brought to bear on the Administration's waning fortunes.

Lawrence Gonzi has the chance to change course now before it is too late!
