Positive matriculation results have been achieved in advanced matriculation examinations, the Education Ministry said.

It said the Board of Examinations published Matsec advanced and intermediary results which had been taken by 3,829 students.

The Ministry said that only 43 of the 430 who sat for the advanced matriculation exam in Maltese did not pass.

In English, 474 of the 575 who sat for the exam passed as did 100 of the 108 who sat for French, 218 of the 289 who sat for Italian, 21 of the 24 who sat for German and 38 of the 42 who sat for Spanish.

The number of those obtaining a pass mark in other subjects was - 64.7 percent in pure maths, 88.1 percent in biology, 71.5 percent in chemistry, 78.3 percent in physics and 81.9 percent in computing.

Good results were also obtained at intermediary level with more than half the students obtaining A to C grades.
