Until recently, women acquired wealth through marriage, or inheritance, but they are now arguably one of the most powerful engines of global growth. An ever-increasing force in the economic arena, studies have predicted they are destined to control considerable amounts of wealth in the next decade.

It has been found that, in the last 10 years, increased female participation in the labour market has contributed more to the growth of the world economy than either booming China or new technology.

In tomorrow's issue of Pink, which is distributed with The Times, arid financial matters take on a fancy female twist as the magazine looks into "womenomics" and "mompreneurs", as well as the fact that women millionaires are predicted to outnumber their male counterparts by 2020, and by 2025, English ladies should control 60 per cent of the nation's private wealth.

While financial empowerment is experiencing a near-seismic shift, female participation in local politics is not as impressive. Not one woman was elected to the European Parliament five years ago.

Tomorrow's issue offers a insightful snapshot of the women candidates for the upcoming MEP elections, shedding light on their stands on controversial issues that the public holds to heart.

Interestingly, among the six interviewed candidates, who could be representing Malta in the EP, none is against divorce, for example.

Most feel it is an option and that discussions should start in earnest. While one is absolutely in favour of its introduction, another believes in a non-partisan referendum to decide on the matter without further delay. Find out who thinks what tomorrow...

The 55th issue of PINK may not be packed with tear-jerking stories and the human element, but it focuses on subjects that have long been considered male territory to bring out the strength of the female touch.

That is further highlighted in other sections, including the fashion photo shoot, which features a model in bikinis, turning the aisles of a supermarket into a catwalk, diverting the curious eyes of shoppers from the shelves.

Pink is a monthly magazine, published by Allied Newspapers Ltd, printed by Progress Press Ltd, produced by MediaMaker and designed by Helen Cassar Torreggiani and Joseph Schembri.
