Portugal's media on Sunday tried to look on the bright side of the national side's 1-0 defeat to Germany in their first Group D match at Euro 2012.

"We've got the right to believe. The Selecao were beaten. We've already seen that and it's not a reason for the country to lose heart," the main sporting daily A Bola assessed.

"In Lviv (Ukraine, where Saturday's match was played), Portugal had no luck. The game was well-balanced but Portugal were betrayed by Germany, the referee... and luck," it added.

A Bola put its hopes of a change in fortune in Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo, commenting that "he was not brilliant (on Saturday) but he was the only player who stood the course from start to finish".

"Portugal got off on the wrong foot but the fight continues," said the publication Record for its part, adding that Portugal's performance was the team's best for a while.

O Jogo expressed confidence that the team could bounce back.

"It's always better to win your first match but a defeat isn't the end of the world," it said.

Other publications were in a similar vein: Diario de Noticias said "Nothing's lost. Come on Portugal!" on its front page, urging Paulo Bento's team to dream big and push to make the knock-out stages.
