Portugal were drawing one to one with the Czech Republic at halftime in an exciting match with Deco having opened the scoring for the Portuguese before Libor Sionko equalised for the Czechs.

Portugal scored after eight minutes when Cristiano Ronaldo sped through the Czech defence and tried to round Petr Cech. The goalkeeper blocked with his foot but the ball ran free to Deco on the left who put it in the net at the second attempt.

Sionko equalised nine minutes later. The winger won a corner with a penetrating attack on the right, then powered a header past Ricardo from Jaroslav Plasil's cross.

There were bookings for Czech Jan Polak and Portugal's Jose Bosingwa as the teams battled to secure their second win in the group after winning their opening matches.
