Porsche expects double-digit unit sales growth in the United States, its biggest market, this year, German daily Die Welt quoted a senior Porsche executive as saying.

"We are counting on double-digit growth," said Peter Schwarzenbauer, head of Porsche in North America, according to the article on the newspaper's website. It said Porsche had sold almost 34,000 cars in the US in 2005.

In January-April 2006, Porsche's US sales were up 22.3 per cent year-on-year at 12,458 units, the company said on May 2.
