Mario Mifsud, 49, a motoring programme host also known as DJ Banana, was today conditionally discharged for two years and banned from driving for three months after he admitted in court to failing to stop his car when required to do so, driving an an excessive speed,  slightly injuring a warden, disobeyed orders and failing to give his particulars.

His lawyers Janica Bugeja and Dean Hili told Magistrate Edwina Grima that wardens Alicia Ciancio and Maria Mifsud had sropped their client while driving and talking on his phone in Council of Europe Road, Luqa, yesterday.

They issued him a ticket.

He took a picture of one of the wardens using her mobile phone.

He drove off, they chased him and asked him to delete his photo. Ms Ciancio told him to wait for the police. He said there was no reason to wait once he had been handed a ticket.

As he drove off, he knocked her hand with his car,

After the three-month ban was handed down, Mr Mifsud told the magistrate that he had a son with special needs and he was the one who drove him to school or elsewhere. The magistrate refused to alter the judgement after noting that the accused had admitted all charges.
