The long-awaited MTV Summerdance festival will be held at Popeye's Village on Saturday.

Last year, MTV's crew were here hosting another festival and a spokesman said that "Malta was a great party venue and that they would return soon".

And they will be keeping their promise as the MTV film crew will be arriving today together with MTV's The Fridge new VJ Becky Griffin, who will be hosting the event.

Born in Israel, Becky Griffin developed a passion for basketball, leading her to embark on a career as a reporter on the Israel Channel 5 on the game itself and later went on to presenting sports news and post-game basketball interviews with The Sports Channel. She recently started presenting MTV's The Fridge Dance Floor Chart.

Many tickets for this event are being sold via the internet from major European destinations, and is being promoted on the MTV channel.

Saturday's event will be broadcast on MTV in the near future so those patrons attending the evening's event will get a chance to appear on the station.

International deejays Kid Creme, Junior Jack, Joy Kitikonti and G-Mix will be performing while an array of local deejays including Matt Fenech, Super Mario and Jewel T will also join the international deejay line-up.

The event kicks off at 2 p.m. and runs into the early hours of Sunday morning.

The festival will also include a state-of-the-art laser show, an O'Neill fashion parade and a jet-ski show.
