Several Gozitan employees who cross over to Malta with their own means of transport every Sunday evening are finding it extremely difficult to board the 7pm ferry, even though they leave home by 6.30pm in order to be in the queue at Mġarr at the appropriate time.

Notwithstanding the fact that the festive season ended over a month ago, every Sunday evening the roads leading to Mġarr harbour are packed with cars.  Many people end up taking the 11pm trip and arrive at their destinations in Malta well after midnight – meaning they spend over five hours travelling from Gozo to Malta.

On inquiring why this was happening I was told that one of the Gozo vessels, the largest one, has been at the dock for an unusual period of time.

I appeal to the Minister for Gozo who is striving hard for the welfare of Gozitans working and studying in Malta, to intervene and help solve this ridiculous situation.
