A former police sergeant was reinstated in the police force eight years after he had retired, and he retired once more within two years after having been promoted, information given in parliament today shows.

Replying to a question by Nationalist MP Beppe Fenech Adami, Home Affairs Minister Carmelo Abela said the sergeant had retired on July 17, 2005.

He was reinstated on July 19, 2013 and deployed to the Drug Squad.

On November 15, 2013 he was promoted to Sergeant Major (second class) and moved to the Internal Affairs Division within the police corps.

The same person retired with the pension of a sergeant major on March 16, 2015.
