A policeman was slightly injured this morning when he jumped a height of one storey after being chased by a man wielding knives.

The incident happened in a house in Triq il-Magħsar in Zabbar.

Informed sources said the police were called to evict a man who had not been acting normally.

When the officers got there they were faced with a man who acted aggressively and wielded two pointed instruments.

He allegedly disobeyed police orders and as the officers tried to enter the house he assaulted them and threw items at them. One of the officers had to jump a height of one storey to avoid being stabbed. He was later hospitalised.

The officers used a taser gun to control the man. He was later also taken to hospital. The police later said his medical condition is serious.

Investigations are continuing.
