Joseph Bianchi, 39 of Senglea, was arraigned in court today, accused of   having attacked two policemen, seriously injuring one of them, in an incident last Sunday morning.

He was also accused of smashing the rear windscreen of his estranged wife's car.

Informed sources said that Mr Bianchi chased his wife down to the police station and scuffled with policemen. One of the officers received a gash to his arm which needed five sutures.

Mr Bianchi was granted bail and his sister will be standing in as a guarantor on a personal guarantee of €2,000.
